Becoming something great...

Good Enough Productions was started on a cold winter day in Jan of 2008 over an AIM chat window.

But to really know how this all got started we need to go much farther back.  Some years ago, somewhere in North America, a child was born… [Umm, ok maybe that’s too far...]

How about this?  Matt grew up playing MacGyver in the woods of Pennsylvania, and made his first movie in 7th grade as a school project.  It was made almost entirely out of duct tape, which failed, so he went back to a camcorder.

Sam also grew up playing MacGyver but in the woods of North Carolina, and unlike Matt, was very successful with duct tape.  He grew up loving comics, and the movies; spending many of his younger years walking around in capes, trying to crawl up walls and jump off buildings.

Matt and Sam first met, at North Carolina State University, while getting their Bachelor of Science degrees.  It turned out they both shared a passion for movies and so a lifelong friendship was forged.  And like most people who get Bachelors of Science degrees, they both went on to their lab careers and tried desperately for years to break free from the grip of the corporate science world.

Sam was lucky; he was the first to get out. Following a series of fortunate lay-offs and firings, he finally broke free and began making custom furniture [yeah I know from genetics to entertainment centers—I’m still not sure how he did that, but I think duct-tape was involved].  But Sam soon came to the realization that in order to make a living at this, he would have to start charging for his furniture creations, so he put aside the dreams of an entertainment center per household and decided to give the exhibit design world a try.  A few years, many lasting friendships, and some new costumes later, Sam graduated with his Masters of Industrial Design with a passion for all forms of design, especially for the production side of movie making.

Matt, on the other hand is currently succeeding and climbing those corporate ladders, but hoping one day that his next leap will be the leap home. But there was a new hope. Not quite a year ago, the inklings of a powerful corporation began filling Matt’s head. And remembering his love for movies and movie making, Matt talked to Sam about this new business idea, including important key words such as prop design and special effects. It started as a few promising, but sadly, unfinished movie scripts, but eventually lead to the idea that the internet could help jump-start their future careers. Shortly after, on a cold January day in 2008, an AIM chat window became the birth place for Good Enough Productions.

Unfortunately, during the filming of their very first webcast, Matt and Sam were transformed into puppets [Don’t bother asking how, I’ve seen the video and I still don’t get it.]  It is something they have accepted but continue to try to reverse.  They also decided that this “condition” will not stop them from working and moving forward with Good Enough Productions.  So enjoy their adventures and come back often.
